Performance
Snug runs all the time, so it has strict budgets. These are the measured results, with how, where and when they were measured.
| Metric | Measured | Budget |
|---|---|---|
| Window placed after it appears | 78 ms | ≤ 250 ms p95 |
| Memory, steady | 20 MB | ≤ 80 MB |
| CPU, idle | 0.0% | ≤ 0.1% of one core |
| Download (DMG) | 2.5 MB | ≤ 10 MB |
| CPU, active use (average) | Not measured yet | ≤ 2% of one core |
How
- Window placed after it appears: Median of 8 new TextEdit windows, from the moment each appears on screen until it sits in its tile (window list polled every 5 ms). Slowest: 147 ms, the first window, which includes TextEdit starting up.
- Memory, steady: Physical memory footprint 20 s after the last window change.
- CPU, idle: Ten 2-second samples with no window activity.
- Download (DMG): Size of the notarized 1.0.0 disk image.
Where and when
MacBook Air (M4, 16 GB), macOS 26.6.2, Snug 1.0.0 development build, built-in display, 6–11 tiled windows, tiling on. Measured on 30 Oct 2026.
Our test plan's reference setup is an M1 Mac with 10 windows across 2 displays; those results will be added here when that run is done.
